INTRODUCTION

Shortly after becoming a Christian, I remember a conversation I had with my friend's wife - the friend who had lead me to Christ.  I was excited about my new life in Christ, but was also experiencing some frustration.  My frustration centered around having all sorts of questions regarding Christianity, and not being able to find some sort of quick reference manual that could answer my questions both thoroughly and efficiently.  Either I found resources with answers too abbreviated or resources that had novel-length answers.  I wanted a resource that could give me both thorough and concise answers.  I remember my friend's wife's reply, “Why don’t you put together such a resource yourself.”  Well, some years after that conversation it was put upon my heart to do that very thing, and this website was started with its genesis in my dear friends comment to me.

The purpose of this website is to provide scriptural answers to foundational doctrinal questions.  Personal commentary will be kept to a minimum so as to allow the Scriptures to form the basis for the answers.

As a final note, I would like to offer two pieces of advice that I believe to be vital for the proper study of God’s Word:

1

Trust the Scriptures even when they are contrary to what you feel or think.  The Scriptures are God’s, our Father’s, Words to us, His children.  Just as small children sometimes cannot understand the purpose of their parents instructions, so we at times will not fully comprehend the words of our Father.  Even so, though we may not at times understand our Father's words to us, we can always trust in them.  For the scriptures tell us:

“He who trusts in his own heart is a fool…” (NKJ:  Proverbs 28:26)

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;”  (NKJ:  Proverbs 3:5)

”For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God…”  (NKJ:  I Corinthians 3:19)

2

Test everything you hear or read, including information on this website, against the Scriptures to prove their validity.  Unfortunately, there are those people in this world that would try to misguide others by speaking false words and/or misquoting scriptures (cf. Matthew 7:15,24:11,24;II Corinthians 11:13-15, II Peter 2:1; I John 4:1; Jude 1:3-4).  When researching a Scriptural reference, it is always good to read the verses prior and subsequent to the verse you are researching to make sure that the context of the scripture is consistent with how it is being used.  Paul the apostle commended the people in Berea, to which he was preaching, for even though he was an apostle, they still checked what he was saying against the Scriptures, “These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.” (NKJ:  Acts 17:11)  Someone who takes offense when you respectfully check what they are saying against the Scriptures is someone of which to be leery.

I hope and pray that these articles will bless the readers.  I welcome your comments regarding these articles.  Please address your comments to FoundationsFaith@gmail.com or fill out the form below.

DEDICATION

This website is dedicated to my dear friend Dave Everitt.  His faithful walk with the Lord was a true testimony of God’s love, and was the vehicle by which the Lord brought me to a saving belief in Him.
